Decorative Mask

Origin: Yombe Tribe, D.R. Congo

This decorative mask was purchased and brought in an air shipment from the Congo shortly before the elections in 2007. Stylistically, it is similar to Yombe ancestor/spirit masks, nearly all of which are now carved for export, but are striking and powerful nonetheless. Often, the open mouth and open eyes create a very powerful, moving image when placed upon the wall, and can often change a room completely.
